Our Year 7 campers braving the heights at Youlbury.
A picture perfect camp site!
The Langtree School Community gathered together on Friday 26th June to celebrate the formal opening of the Multi Use Games Area on the school site. The astro turf pitch has been installed by McArdle at a cost of £227,000, and will provide a professional quality training surface for students and membersd of the wider community alike.
Staffs, students, governors and sponsors gathered pitch side to welcome our guest of honour, Team GB Hockey star Helen Richardson-Walsh, who attended to formally open the facility and to speak to the students. Following the formalities, Helen took the very first penalty against our school team Goalkeeper, who managed to save one shot from the GB international!
The project would not have been possible without the generous support of our business sponsors, who have made a commitment to support the ongoing maintenance for the pitch. Our business sponsors are: McArdle sport Tec, Xicards.com, Winkworth, Peppard Building Supplies, Halarose, Get Furnished, Woody Nook at Woodcote, Invesco Perpetual;, Studio One, Action Coach, Warmingham Estate Agents and Golf HR.
The formal opening was followed by an afternoon of sport for all, and students had their first taste of playing hockey and football on the new surface. The day certainly marked an exciting development for all members of the Langtree School Community and was hugely enjoyed by all!
Our annual Activities Week this year will take place on Monday 29th June to Friday 3rd July. I am very pleased to announce that the Activities Week for 2015 will be themed around the 150th Celebration of Alice in Wonderland, and in this respect our week will reflect many of the anniversary events which will be taking place up and down the country in the coming months. The week will be a fully inclusive programme for all Year 9 students, as well as those Year 8 students who are not going on the French trip.

Our advice would be the same as the King of Hearts to Alice: ‘Begin at the beginning and go on until you come to the end, and then stop!’
The AstroTurf pitch at Langtree School is now completed and looking fantastic as you can see from this photograph, that was taken one evening with the floodlights on. We are now looking forward to the official opening on Friday 26th June 2015.
Please contact Mary Taylor-Lane firstname.lastname@example.org or 01491 683382 if you would like to make a booking or have your company logo displayed alongside the pitch.
On Wednesday 10th December Langtree School hosted the annual Christmas party for the senior citizens in our local community, and yet again the event was a resounding success. Students from Years 9, 10 and 11 acted as hosts to over 70 guests, who were treated to a high tea, a musical cabaret, and a raffle. The raffle prizes were donated by local businesses, we are grateful to: The Highwayman – Checkendon, The Woody Nook – Woodcote, Kimberley’s Hair Studio – Woodcote, The Cooperative – Woodcote, The Red Lion – Woodcote, Albert Fields Hair Salon – Goring, Goring Hardware and Woodcote Garden Centre for the wonderful raffle prizes. The event concluded with carol singing as a celebration of Christmas.
And for those local residents who were too unwell to attend, members of our Langtree School community contributed donations of food and treats which helped us to make up 38 gift-wrapped hampers, which were delivered to the homes of elderly residents in the community following the party.
