Here are a few photos of last years GCSE students resistant materials project work, which have recently been on display at the BP foyer in Whitchurch.
On Thursday 11th of September our Product Design group at Langtree school went to the Pitt Rivers museum in Oxford. The trip was planned in order to give us inspiration for our project that we will be working on until Christmas. We were also given the incredible opportunity to exhibit our work in the museum with our very own display cabinet.
Over the past 10 weeks, a group of six year nine students have been working on a BP Go4Set challenge, for a national competition. We were introduced to the competition back in January, where we were briefed about our task; we had to come up with a way to make part of our school more energy efficient than it previously was.

On Creativity Day, the Year 10 GCSE Resistant Materials and Graphic Products students went to London for the day. We all arrived early on the morning of 20th March, at Goring Station, ready to embark on an epic day, not only visiting The Design Museum but touring the sites of London’s architectural buildings designed by the greats, such as Norman Foster, Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano.

On Thursday the 27th together for a visit from B.P. It was challenging but fun and very interesting.
After being introduced to the visitors, we were told about fuels. The class was asked about different types of fuels and how they were used, being prompted by the staff and images. We then learnt about oil rigs, which B.P engineers. Continue reading
4 people from BP visited some of the year 7 students in the D.T room in November. They came to give us a presentation of how oil is extracted from the North Sea, for use in all of our daily lives. They gave us a challenge to create an oil rig out of marshmallows and straws.
