GCSE RESULTS – 2017
The GCSE results will be released on Thursday 24th August 2017. Results will be available for collection from 10.30 a.m in the Sports Hall. Students requiring a relative or friend to collect their results must send a signed letter of authorisation with the collector. Results will not be given over the telephone. Year 11 students not intending to collect their results in person but requiring them to be posted, should leave an A4 stamped addressed envelope (also bearing their candidate number) with the Exams Officer, Hilary Protheroe. Year 9 ELC Computing will be handed to them by tutors or subject teachers at the beginning of term if not collected on the 24th.
It must be remembered that examinations can only measure performance on the day, and that students can do better or worse than anticipated for a variety of reasons. If there are serious grounds for concern about a result then the school can initiate an EAR (Enquiry about Results) with the appropriate board. Details of the procedures and the fees involved are available from the Examinations Officer. The process should be started as soon as possible after consultation with the Head of Department concerned. The final date for submission of an EAR to the board, which has to be made by the Exams Officer on line, is 20th September 2017 for Summer 2017 exams. Consent has to be obtained from the student before this submission can be made so please contact me at latest a week before the deadline for the EAR to be processed. More details and consent forms will be on the website.
If a student is unhappy with their controlled assessment mark there is an appeals procedure in place for internal assessment marking. Scripts can also be accessed. Please read the Extract from the JCQ Post-Results Booklet (on school website) or contact the Examinations Officer for more details.
