The School Day

The school day begins at 8.50 and we expect all students to be at their tutor groups by this time.  However, in order to support busy parents, students arriving from 8.00am are welcome to wait in the dining hall for the start of the school day. As a school we promote good attendance and expect students to be punctual at all times.  The school day is made up of six 50 minute lessons, paired equally over three sessions of the day.  This allows some practical subjects to be taught in 100 minute double lesson slots where this is advantageous to learning.  The tutorial session after break provides an opportunity for students to meet with their tutor in order to focus on their learning and to review their progress.  It also provides an opportunity for tutors to deliver sessions on Learning to Learn and thinking skills.

In addition, students in each Key Stage will attend three assemblies each fortnight during this slot, including a spiritual assembly given by a visiting speaker each Friday.  After school, an extensive programme of extra curricular activities takes place under the umbrella of ‘Later@Langtree.’  These sessions include a range of sports practices and fixtures, ICT club, and a variety of performing arts activities such as street dance, LAMDA, drama club, sound school and recording techniques.
