Deciding what to revise can feel like trying to climb a mountain. The important thing is to make a start and step by step you will get to the top. There are many ways to identify what topics to revise and to decide, which most need your attention.

Firstly there is the module order to what you have been taught. This  route map will show you which units or chapters of the book will be taught before your 1st, 2nd and end of year assessment.

Chapters 1-5 assessed in 1st Assessment

Chapters 6-10 assessed in 2nd Assessment

All Chapters assessed in End of Year Assessment

Your Maths teacher will teach all of the chapters needed before the relevant assessment, however they may choose to teach the units or chapters in a different order to the route map.

More detail of the contents of these chapters can be found in the textbook itself, to which you have access to an electronic copy of using the Kerboodle site. If you are unsure which book you have been using then please check with your teacher.

Below is picture of a Self Assessment Sheet that students fill out with how they feel about the topics within a chapter using a ‘B’ for before and ‘A’ for After they have been taught them.

Self Assessment Sheet

Students can use these to identify topics that they were lacking in confidence with. There are page numbers on this form, which can direct students straight to support with in a textbook. There is also a 4-digit search code, which can be dropped into MyMaths.co.uk which will bring up an interactive lesson on that particular topic.

The students exercise book is of course a great resource for revision and an effective list of topics that need revising. It is also encouraged that students write a list of topics that they got wrong in previous assessments in the back of their exercise book. This list should also form a list of topics that need revisiting.
