Next Meeting: 16th October, preceded by the AGM – 7.30pm at the Highwayman Inn, Checkendon.

July 2018
Wow what an incredible year we have had! With the support of the parent community and the Langtree staff the PTA committee have been able to donate an impressive £8010 to the school (Sept – July) benefiting all of our children in so many ways. Money has been raised through fundraising events; this year we had the fun Bingo Night and Race Night; through providing refreshments at all school events and also to several generous match-funded donations from parents. THANK YOU EVERYBODY WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED!
Some of the items we have funded include: a Trampette, Reading Pens, a Digital SLR Camera, a Weather Station, Lacrosse equipment, Chromebooks x 16, a Survivor Talk, a Lathe, Tabula Drums and we have recently donated £1000 for outside seating for the children during break times.
The committee have had a lot of fun and we feel extremely proud of what we have achieved.
Our next fun-raising event is on the 30th November – Quiz Night with a Twist! Please put the date in your diary and get ready for another fun and successful night.
We are always looking for new parents to join us, so please come along and get involved …. The next PTA meeting is on Tuesday 11th September and we will be holding our AGM on Tuesday 16th October. Both at The Highwayman Inn, Checkendon.
Joining the PTA does not mean committing to a lot of time or effort – it is surprisingly low key and the more people we have to share the load the better. You may want to simply offer to help at an event or two or just help with refreshments – whatever you can do will have a big impact so do please come along and join in the fun and success!

Langtree School Association – PTA

What is the PTA?

The Langtree School Association a registered charity (Charity No 281545) and is run by parent and carers with a child/ren at Langtree School in Woodcote. All parents and carers are entitled and welcome to attend meetings.

The charity objectives are:

To advance the education of the pupils of the school by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for education at the school (not normally provided by the Local Education Authority)

Who are we?

We are a group of parents and carers who want to help the children of the school wherever we can. There are three elected officer;

Chairman        Diana Hathaway        dhathaway192@gmail.com

Secretary         Kath Brown               brownblot@gmail.com

Treasurer        Julie Li                        julie@larchmead.co.uk

In addition to the elected officers we have a larger general committee made up of parents and carers who attend meetings and help organise and run various fund raising events. All parent and carers are entitled and welcome to attend meetings.

What does the PTA do?

The PTA organises a number of social and fund raising activities throughout the year as well as providing refreshments at school functions where required.

Donations are made to school whenever possible be it for something small but important like student rewards or a larger project we may be working towards for a while.

If there is anything that you would like to see us doing or organising please let us know.

How can I get involved?

The best way is to come along to one of the meetings. You will find us a friendly bunch (usually) who are trying to provide that little bit extra for all of the Langtree pupils. It is a great way to meet other parents and like your children make new friends.

Meetings are normally held in a local pub.

We are always looking for new ideas and if you are unable to make the meeting we are always happy to hear from you by phone, email or via Facebook.

There are many ways you can get involved, from helping out occasionally front of house or in the background or would you like to come and run an event with the support of the committee or anything in between –  there is something for everyone – it is up to you!

All are welcome – it would be great to meet you.

On Wednesday 10th December Langtree School hosted the annual Christmas party for the senior citizens in our local community, and yet again the event was a resounding success. Students from Years 9, 10 and 11 acted as hosts to over 70 guests, who were treated to a high tea, a musical cabaret, and a raffle. The raffle  prizes were donated by local businesses, we are grateful to: The Highwayman – Checkendon, The Woody Nook – Woodcote, Kimberley’s Hair Studio – Woodcote, The Cooperative – Woodcote, The Red Lion – Woodcote, Albert Fields Hair Salon – Goring, Goring Hardware and Woodcote Garden Centre for the wonderful raffle prizes. The event concluded with carol singing as a celebration of Christmas.

Santas’ Fun Run

Woodcote’s first ever Santa Fun Run took place on Sunday 1st December! It was fantastic to see so many people festively dressed in one place.
